GETTING THERE

By land:

Blackbeard Sailing Club is located within the southeast side of the gated Fairfield Harbour community (which was developed around the club after its founding).  From New Bern, or Highway 17, take Highway 55 East toward Oriental.  Turn right at the Broad Creek Road stoplight, continuing for 6 miles. Blackbeard's private  red and white striped gate arm is a left beyond Fairfield's gates, onto Barkentine Drive (opposite well-marked Harbourside Drive and the entrance to Northwest Creek Marina). You'll need to be in possession of your electronic access key. Visitors should plan ahead to meet a member at the gate. Follow Barkentine Drive until you see a gravel road on your right.  Turn on this and continue to the Blackbeard gate.  Again, if you are a visitor you will need to have a club member meet you with an access card unless the gate is open for an event.

By sea:

Blackbeard Sailing Club is located on Upper Broad Creek, a tributary on the eastern shore of the Neuse River; six miles downriver from New Bern, just beyond green marker "3" (18 miles up the Neuse River from the ICW).  The waypoint off our dock entrance is N35^o 03.75 W76^o 56.85. When coming upriver from the ICW be sure to not turn until at least midway between G17 and G19.  Be sure to honor R2 and G3 when coming into Upper Broad Creek.
